For 15 years, around this season, American University's Department of Anthropology has hosted an annual Public Anthropology Conference (PAC) exploring the intersections between politics, activism, engaged scholarship, social movements, academia, and much more.
After a hiatus due to scheduling difficulties, PAC will resume in fall 2020.
We will provide more information soon about how you can be part of the event.
We will be excited to see you in the fall.
2018 Conference Recap
The 2018 Public Anthropology Conference explored opportunities for collaboration between academia and social movements. The keynote panel, "Disciplines Collaborate: A Conversation about Working with Social Movements and Community Organizers," engaged presenters and attendees in dialogue and shared insights about the concrete ways in which activists and academia can strengthen collaborative efforts to combat social inequalities and injustice, discrimination and oppression, and violations of human rights and dignity.
