The Filmanthropy Workshop took place on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Discovery Communications World Headquarters at One Discovery Place in Silver Spring, MD, located at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road.
2. What is the relationship between American University’s School of Communication, the Institute for Strategic Communication for Nonprofits and SILVERDOCS/AFI?
The School of Communication at American University created the Institute for Strategic Communication for Nonprofits in 2002. The Institute has a long-standing relationship with SILVERDOCS and in 2007 was a presenting sponsor of the documentary festival. Given the natural compatibility of the organizations, it made sense to join forces to connect filmmakers and executives from nonprofit organizations seeking to utilize media to achieve their goals.
